“All the world’s a stage” in ACT’s Flashback Theater.

The week of July 26-30 had our terrific teachers and creative campers exploring the world of Shakespeare. They held brainstorming sessions to identify all that they knew about the bard – and it turns out that it was a lot more than you would imagine! On Tuesday, they brainstormed ideas for the play to be performed on Friday. Some of the story ideas they tossed around were: Romeo and Juliet as children; Shakespeare traveling in time to the future; the Shakespeare family reunion; and Shakespeare as a kid in school. Wednesday was devoted to fleshing out these ideas, performing scenes, and conducting auditions. Characters, setting, and conflict/resolution were tackled on Thursday. On Friday, campers spent most of the day rehearsing the play and choosing costumes. Parents arrived Friday afternoon to see the final result, and it was amazing! The campers developed and wrote a great play about a Shakespeare family reunion, complete with a visit from William Shakespeare, who found himself in the future with his descendants. A great time was had by everyone, and in the words of the Bard, “All’s well that ends well.”

This week has campers tackling the silver screen with the theme: “Creatures of the Night.” Join us for the world premier of their original film this Friday, Aug 6 at 4 pm! (FREE!)
